With schools dating back to the 1870s, the award-winning Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is now the 16th largest school district in California. RUSD educates nearly 42,000 students across 50 schools in Riverside. The District serves a large portion of Riverside as well as the unincorporated areas of Highgrove and Woodcrest. RUSD is led by its 12th Superintendent, Ms. Renee Hill and is governed by a Board of Education comprised of publicly elected officials who serve five different trustee areas.

Requirements / Qualifications

The Manager of Systems oversees Identity and Access Management, Database Administration, Systems Analysis, and Integration to ensure reliable computing and communication services across the District. This role manages software engineers and vendors to support implementation, data synchronization, training, and documentation for both internal and external systems.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
  • Administers identity management systems, including Microsoft Identity Manager and Active Directory integration with Google Workspace.
  • Manages Microsoft SQL clusters and standalone servers, including performance monitoring, backups, and recovery.
  • Oversees internal web servers (Microsoft IIS) hosting internal applications and web content.
  • Directs database development, storage, and administration to support district-wide software applications.
  • Coordinates programming requests, resource allocation, timelines, and standards for development.
  • Leads the analysis, integration, and improvement of computerized systems, including SQL configurations for dashboards like PowerSchool Analytics & Insights.
  • Collaborates with end users to evaluate and enhance system design, data usage, and automation; assesses technical and economic feasibility.
  • Establishes and reviews standards for software development, data architecture, security, and end-user computing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) from a four-year college or university, ten to twelve years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A computer science, telecommunications, or related degree is desired with in-depth knowledge in at least one of the District’s key hardware and software systems architectures. Requires a minimum of five years of experience in programming and three years supporting client-server-based systems.
LICENSES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
