Job Summary
Under the direction of the District Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services works collaboratively with other members of the Executive Cabinet to support the district vision and ensure access and equity for all students. The Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services is directly responsible for providing leadership to administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals in the areas of instruction, student achievement, and assessment. Supervises and ensures the integration of all programs for Educational Services, which include the following: ~ Curriculum and Instruction ~ Gifted and Talent Education (GATE) ~ English Language Learner/Dual Language Programs ~ Technology and Library/Media Services ~ Extended Learning, Enrichment and Intervention Support ~ New Teacher Induction ~ Data and Assessment ~ Professional Development ~ State Preschool Program ~ Local Control Accountability Plan ~ Coordinates Charter School Petitions Responsibilities are varied and include: ~ Works collaboratively with the superintendent, other cabinet members, and site and district personnel ~ Works in cooperation with the site administrators, facilitating site improvement planning. ~ Provides leadership in articulating and interpreting assessment results to improve the educational program. ~ Expands the use of technology to support student achievement. ~ Interprets student assessment results for the community. ~ Uses student assessment results for planning program improvement. ~ Evaluates classified and certificated staff. ~ Proposes new and/or revised policies for board consideration. ~ Provides leadership and mentoring to certificated personnel. The first round of interviews will be held in person on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. For those moving forward, the final interview will also be held in person on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements ~ Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in public school administration, education services and curriculum is required ~ Must possess a valid California Teaching and Administrative Services Credential authorizing service as an Assistant Superintendent. ~ A Master’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university is desirable. Distinguishing Characteristics ~ Demonstrate excellence in leadership, management, and problem solving skills. ~ Qualities of integrity, compassion, courage, and forthrightness in dealing with students, parents, and staff. ~ Possesses a strong commitment to improving student achievement. ~ The ability to express oneself effectively orally, and in writing. ~ Work effectively with employee associations.
