Under the direction of the Principal, the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) is repsonsible for supporting and maintaining a positive school climate and culture for students. The TOSA will support all staff in the academic progress of students and work collaboratively with the entire middle school commuity in providing an environment that is positive and safe.
Qualifications
- Valid Teaching Credential
- CLAD Credential
- Evidence of five years successful teaching experience at the K-8 grade level
- Experience in curriculum development and mentor training and/or leadership
- Work collaboratively with peers and administrators
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school community
- Use instructional technology and software
Duties and Responsibilities
To provide asistance to the principal in such areas as:
- Setting goals for instruction and monitoring of student achievement; and ongoing monitoring student achievement data to inform instructional decisions and program design
- Admiinistering school programs including instruction, special committees, activities, staff meetings , IEP's, SST's, family curriculum evenings, CASSP testing, SSC
- Provide professional development opportunities in content area, best instructional practices and assessments aligned to Common Core State Standards
- Work collaboratively with other district departments, including ELL, SpEd, GT, Indian Ed, etc.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a positive environment for achieving educaitonal outcomes
- Supervises extra-curricular activitiies as assigned
- Works closely with site based programs, student assistance programs, liasion programs and curricular programs
- Administers student discipline policies within district policy
- Assists in supervision of co-curricular programs and advisory programs as assigned
- Assists with the devleopment and implementation of student attendance procedures, monitoring, student management and conduct policies

Our District has a maximum employer annual contribution cap of $16,400 that it will pay towards these (5) five benefits.
