
Coordinator, Special Education/SELPA at Riverside Unified School District (RUSD)

With schools dating back to the 1870s, the award-winning Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is now the 16th largest school district in California. RUSD educates nearly 42,000 students across 50 schools in Riverside. The District serves a large portion of Riverside as well as the unincorporated areas of Highgrove and Woodcrest. Requirements / Qualifications
Under the direction of the Director V, Special Education in all related aspects of SELPA related activities. Participate in the formulation, development and administration of District policies and procedures relating to Special Education programs; direct one or more of the subsections of the District’s special education curricula; observe, consult with and assist resource specialists, designated instruction and services instructors, and special day class teachers; oversee the development of the assigned programs. Coordinate and Supervise Special Education providers as assigned. Provide assistance to site level administrators as needed. Lead Informal Dispute Resolution meetings, participate in Special Education and/or Office of Civil Rights mediation and due process, respond to CDE Compliance Complaints, CDE data collection and review, and other needed legal mandates to maintain compliance with IDEA.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Develop and participate in research or impact of methods and materials used in the program.
- Research curriculum; assist in curriculum development and disseminate information regarding primary and supplementary resources.
- Support the board goals and priorities.
- Focus on district and school wide goals and initiatives.
- Focus on increasing student learning outcomes and improving state indicators.
- Support school psychologists and other related service providers.
- Screen and evaluate new materials and demonstrate their use to teachers / providers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid California Credential with English Learners Certification
- Valid California Administrative Services Credential
- Master’s Degree
- Counseling and special education experience preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience preferred (site experience preferred as well)
- Minimum five years successful teaching experience working with a diverse socio-economic and multi-ethnic school population
- Bilingual preferred
