CLASSIFIED SERVICE JOB SPECIFICATION JOB CLASS: WAREHOUSE WORKER LEVEL: I POSITION TITLE: WAREHOUSE WORKER CLASS DEFINITION: Positions within this class are characterized by having duties in each area associated with the proper operation of a warehouse, including driving, delivery, custodial, courier service, stock management, clerical tasks, scheduling and interaction with sales people, staff and the general public. Required of this classification is the ability to operate responsibly trucks, vans and forklifts as necessary to the operation of a warehouse. Positions within this class require the ability to work independently in an environment which has definite seasons characterized by high and low demand, shifting priorities and significant regulatory issues. Levels within this class are differentiated by virtue of the degree of skills and expertise required to perform successfully within the assignment. Positions within this class are under the general supervision of the manager charged to oversee the purchasing and warehouse functions. Leadership and direction may be provided by assigned staff within the facility. POSITION DEFINITION: Under general supervision, to perform manual and clerical duties involved in receiving, storing, filling requisitions, preparing for delivery and delivering supplies, material and equipment, and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: •Receive supplies and equipment and check receipts with purchase orders to ensure that correct quantity and quality of items have been supplied •Shelve, rotate, or place stock received in proper storage areas •Maintain perpetual inventory records of stock on hand •Assist in periodic physical inventory •Fill requisitions and packages and mark orders for delivery •Deliver orders to departments and schools according to schedule •Load and unload trucks •Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas •Receive, sort and route district mail in a central facility •Move books to various schools and locations •Assist in purchase of warehouse supplies •Plan schedules for effective use of resources •Prepare reports and statistical data as requested •Cross train in purchasing functions •Answer phones and greet visitors. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education and Experience - Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in stock or delivery work. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of methods and practices of receiving, storing, handling, wrapping and shipping supplies and equipment; knowledge of safety practices in handling of supplies and equipment; ability to keep accurate and current records of warehouse transactions; ability to follow a prescribed routine independent of close supervision; ability to exercise sound judgement in knowing when to refer questions to a higher authority for decisions; ability to perform heavy physical labor; ability to follow oral and written directions and work cooperatively with others; ability to work with and around children; ability to relate well to parents and other adults. Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California driver’s license PHYSICAL ABILITIES: • Visual capability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines • Able to conduct verbal conversation in English and other designated languages • Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels) • Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, walk • Able to stand in one space for sustained periods • Able to work with trees, plants, shrubs, flowers, soil and turf without allergic reaction • Able to sit for sustained periods of time • Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally • Able to push and pull objects weighing up to 300 pounds • Able to sustain strenuous manual labor for 8 hours • Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder external rotation and internal rotation • Able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder abduction and adduction • Able to exhibit full range of motion for elbow flexion and extension • Able to exhibit full range of motion for back lateral flexion • Able to exhibit full range of motion for hip flexion and extension • Able to exhibit full range of motion for knee flexion • Able to work in a wide range of temperatures. • Able to work at various elevated heights in a safe and effective manner. • Able to work with chemical agents in a safe and effective manner without allergic reaction. • Able to exhibit manual dexterity necessary to perform fine maintenance procedures and operate both manual and power hand tools in a safe and effective manner. • Able to operate material handling equipment, machinery and powered vehicles in a safe and effective manner SALARY SCHEDULE: Classified Monthly EVALUATED BY: Superintendent or designee EVALUATION REVIEWED BY: Superintendent or designee
