Job Summary
Under the direction of the Site Administrator and/or Superintendent, the Wellness Coach is a staff member dedicated to promoting student wellness through the development and implementation of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs and other supportive initiatives. This individual will play a key role in enhancing the emotional and social well-being of students, working closely with teachers, counseling staff and families to create a positive school environment. The role involves creating a safe and accessible space for students needing assistance with coping skills and school avoidance, as well as performing clerical tasks and serving as a point of contact. The Wellness Coach also establishes positive relationships with students and staff, while adhering to district policies and guidelines. During the regular course of work, the Wellness Coach may have access to sensitive information. It is expected that all employees of the Susanville School District will not release any sensitive information regarding students, parents/guardians, or staff.
Requirements / Qualifications
Wellness Coach I- Minimum Qualifications Include: • AA Degree or higher in one of the following fields is preferred: Social Work, Health and Human Services, Addiction Studies, Child Development/Early Intervention, Psychology or Sociology. • Wellness Coach I certification • Minimum one-year previous experience working with children in an educational setting. • Strong communication skills with an ability toward effective conflict resolution. Wellness Coach II- Minimum Qualifications Include: • Master’s Degree, or equivalent experience: Social Work, Health and Human Services, Addiction Studies, Child Development/Early Intervention, Psychology or Sociology. • Wellness Coach II certification • Minimum one-year previous experience working with children in an educational setting. • Strong communication skills with an ability toward effective conflict resolution.
