Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Experience: Any combination equivalent to two year’s experience in performing minor maintenance and repair work of buildings, equipment, or machinery. Knowledge of: Basic methods, materials, tools, equipment, and techniques used in general maintenance and repair; safety practice. Ability to: Safely use common hand and power tools; understand written and oral instructions; work cooperatively with others; lift, stoop, climb, and apply considerable physical labor; maintain insurability to drive a district vehicle. License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and insurability to drive a District vehicle as part of the District’s Pull Notice program is required. Special information: • The safe operation of a District vehicle is required. • All applicants will be required to submit a copy of their recent and current driver's license and a (less than one month old from the recruitment closing date) DMV online driver record, which shows your driving record as required by California Vehicle Code Section 1808.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or before testing. The life of the eligibility list will be one year. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s). Applicants who may need a reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Classified Human Resources Department three business days before the testing date at (714) 447-7458. Under the immediate supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations, and using moderate-level or apprentice-level maintenance skills, Maintenance Workers must perform a variety of preventative maintenance, maintenance, construction, and repair work, which includes routine repair and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and/or machinery. Working hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This career opportunity is an 8-hour/day, 12-month position with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation.
