Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. •Must have an AA degree or higher; or completed at least 48 semester units at an institution of higher education; or pass an Assessment Test. •Supplemental college-level coursework in library skills and one year experience working in a library or instructional environment. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: •Knowledge of library practices, procedures and terminology. •Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. •Knowledge of modern office methods, practices, and equipment including micro- computers and computer terminals. •Knowledge of Dewey Decimal, card cataloging systems, computerized library, reference and learning systems. •Knowledge of standard library reference sources and other library related materials. •Ability to provide assistance in preparing and planning book talks and story telling. •Ability to assist students and teachers in locating and selecting materials; monitor and maintain acceptable student behavior. •Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
