
Full Time Temporary History Instructor at Mt. San Jacinto College

We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Temporary History Instructor located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Full Time Temporary History Instructor to teach and develop courses in History. The ideal candidate is student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success and will be skilled in generating student engagement in learning and will create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based and culturally affirming. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus, and online classes. This recruitment is for a full-time temporary assignment for the Academic Year 2025/2026 (August 8, 2025 – May 21, 2026)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in history; (attach transcripts) OR 2. A Bachelor’s degree in history AND a Master’s degree in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science or ethnic studies; (attach transcripts) OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Demonstrated ability to teach US history and/or world survey courses 2. Demonstrated engagement and ongoing commitment to Ethnic Studies programs, courses and pedagogy, and preparation to teach Black History in the American Context 3. Evidence of ability to teach or develop specialty courses such as African American history or area survey courses including but not limited to Africa, Latin America, or Mexico 4. Recent (within the last 5 years) teaching experience in history at an accredited community college or other regionally accredited higher educational institution 5. Training or experience in the use of classroom technology and/or online instruction 6.
