BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the assigned supervisor, keeps assigned school facilities and office space clean, sanitary, safe and orderly. Does special cleaning periodically (scheduled) or upon request.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reports needed repairs to immediate supervisor; lights gas-fired hearing equipment and operates thermostatic controls.
- Moves supplies, equipment and furniture as needed.
- Completes cleaning assignments as required, opens and closes school as work schedule indicates.
- Cleans floors with appropriate equipment and tools. Maintains these items in good working condition.
- Maintains, cleans, dusts, and polishes walls, restrooms, locker rooms, showers, classrooms, offices, furniture and equipment on a routine basis or as directed.
- Assists in setting up classroom or auditorium for special events of meetings.
- Assists school personnel with heavy objects as needed.
- Washes windows, polishes metalwork, disposes of trash and assist in maintaining clean grounds.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of safety procedures.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate the ability to select and use cleaning equipment, materials and tools with skill and efficiency.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively and efficiently with peers
- Demonstrates the ability to use custodial tools, supplies, and equipment
- Displays the ability to carry out oral and written directions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Pass a District proficiency test.
- Valid California Driver’s license or Valid ID.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Indoor & outdoor environment
EVALUATION PROTOCOL:
Evaluator: Assigned Supervisor
Probationary Period: Probation period will commence the 1st working day after board approval and conclude at the end of the 9th month from that date.
Evaluation Period: During the probation period evaluations shall occur at least twice prior to attaining permanent status. After permanent status, evaluations will occur on or before April 1st of each year.
