Job Summary
An incumbent of this classification provides one-on-one and/or group intensive behavioral intervention service focused upon facilitating classroom and campus behavior in increasing socially appropriate behavior through applied behavior analysis principles and data collection analysis methods.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Skills: Basic techniques and methods for effective behavioral intervention with students. Foundations of Applied Behavior Analysis. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Ability to: Project a mature, constructive, stable, and positive attitude in a learning environment. Learn pertinent procedures and functions quickly and apply them independently. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts of child growth and development, including students with medical needs. Execute oral and written directions and follow through, as needed. Establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others. Physical Abilities: Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to speak to groups, and to hear sound prompts from equipment. Requires ambulatory ability to move about the school campus and community events. Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, to point out important words/figures to students, and to operate personal computers. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies, fixtures, wheelchairs, etc., of light-to-medium weight (under 50 pounds) on a regular basis, and heavy weight (50+ pounds) without labor saving equipment on an intermittent basis. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Completion of 20 hour behavior technician training within the first 60 days including the satisfactory completion of a district approved program in Positive Behavior Supports and interventions. Two years of higher education study (48-semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or Higher degree. Minimum of 6 months of behavior intervention experience utilizing ABA techniques (i.e., collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior, utilize safe and appropriate behavioral procedures, ability to implement student behavior plans with fidelity). Fingerprints and TB test required upon initial employment. Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of behavior intervention experience utilizing ABA techniques (i.e., collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior, utilize safe and appropriate behavioral procedures, ability to implement student behavior plans with fidelity). Bachelor's degree in a related field. Registered Behavior Technician Certification. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: May require a valid California driver’s license.
