Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Independent Study Teacher to facilitate student learning using an online curriculum platform at the Harmony Haven youth facility. In this role, you will provide in-person and/or online support and guidance to students as they complete their coursework, ensuring they stay engaged, understand the material, and make academic progress. You will create a structured, supportive, and motivating environment where students feel empowered to succeed. The teacher will work on-site at the Harmony Haven facility with students present in person and/or online. Class sizes may vary, with students at different grade levels and academic abilities. The position requires adaptability and a trauma-informed approach to education.

Requirements / Qualifications

In-district teachers will have priority. Current BUSD teachers need only to submit a Certificated Request for Transfer. Please click on the link in this posting. Valid full teaching credential ( Single Subject Math is preferred). Experience working with at-risk youth, foster youth, or special populations is highly desirable. Familiarity with online learning platforms and independent study models. Strong classroom management and mentorship skills. Ability to build trusting relationships and provide positive reinforcement. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A patient, flexible, and empathetic approach to teaching. Ability to work collaboratively with facility staff and caseworkers.
