Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid CTC teaching credential with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Capitalizes students’ interests to engage students to become independent learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of subjects assigned
Use information about individual student to make learning more meaningful and relevant


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

• Deliver the district curriculum.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district

CURRENT GPUSD CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEES ONLY QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid Multiple Subjects California Teaching Credential with EL authorization. Must hold a valid California driver’s license. Additional Credentialing Requierments: Education Code section 48000(g), under the purview of the California Department of Education (CDE), requires credentialed teachers who are first assigned to a TK classroom after July 1, 2015 to have one of the following by August 1, 2025: At least 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children comparable to the 24 units of education described in bullet 1 (comparability determined by the local employing agency) Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing Note, any teacher who is or was assigned to teach TK, or a combination of kindergarten and TK, on or before July 1, 2015, may teach TK without having to meet the additional unit requirement for TK teachers set forth in Education Code section 48000(g).
