Job Summary
The Executive Assistant to the Superintendent supports the Superintendent and oversees the activities of the Superintendent’s Office. The position is designated as within the “confidential” class of employees in accordance with California Government Code 3540.1. The Executive Assistant to the Superintendent performs duties of an administrative and complex secretarial nature, carrying out functional responsibilities on behalf of the Superintendent, ensuring the efficiency of office operations, overseeing the work activities of other personnel; documenting and communicating information to staff, the public, other districts and various agencies; providing interpretations, comparisons and/or recommendations; coordinating and directing inquiries to appropriate parties; ensuring compliance with financial, legal and administrative requirements; and representing the Superintendent as appropriate.
Requirements / Qualifications
Job-related education necessary to perform the essential job duties is typically consistent with graduation from high school or equivalent. College-level coursework in communications, public relations, business or public administration, office information systems, or a closely related field is desirable. Progressively responsible administrative support experience involving recordkeeping and frequent contact with the public is required. Experience in office management and facilitating public meetings is preferred. Persons hired in this classification must become commissioned as a Notary Public by the State of California within six months of employment. This certification must be maintained while employed in this classification.

Fully completed applications will be reviewed for minimum qualifications. Those that meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated to determine which candidates will continue in the next steps of the examination process.
Exam components may consist of a multiple choice test (weight: 20%), a performance test (weight: 30%), and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight: 50%).
The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional - Dual Certification. Candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District). A copy of your DD214 must be submitted at time of application.
Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. Please note that our agency receives federal funding and must adhere to federal regulations.
The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
