ILC is renowned for its innovative Spanish Dual Language Immersion program, which follows a 90/10 model—starting with 90% instruction in Spanish and gradually balancing to 50/50 by fifth grade. This program aims to develop bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural competencies, preparing students for success in a global society. The school's diverse student body reflects the rich cultural tapestry of the Lakewood and Bellflower communities, with a majority Hispanic population, alongside African-American, Asian, Filipino, and White students. ILC fosters a safe, inclusive, and student-centered environment, guided by Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and a strong emphasis on respect, responsibility, and community engagement. Intensive Learning Center Position Overview: Bellflower Unified School District is seeking a visionary and culturally responsive leader to serve as the Principal of the Intensive Learning Center. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of dual language immersion education, a commitment to academic excellence, and the ability to foster strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader community.
