Job Summary
The Athletic Director (AD) at Sonora High School is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s interscholastic athletics program. This includes leadership in compliance, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, facility coordination, and promoting a culture of academic and athletic excellence. The AD plays a critical role in fostering school spirit and ensuring all athletic programs reflect the values and expectations of the Fullerton Joint Union High School District (FJUHSD). Full-Time Release (2025–2026 School Year) For the 2025–2026 school year, this position will be a full-time release role, meaning the Athletic Director will not be assigned classroom teaching duties. This full-time release status is subject to annual evaluation by both site and district administration, based on district staffing and budgetary needs, to ensure ongoing alignment with school and district priorities. Compensation The Athletic Director will be compensated according to the FJUHSD certificated salary schedule, identical to classroom teachers. Placement on the scale is determined by experience and education. In addition to the base salary, the Athletic Director will receive a $18,000 annual stipend, which covers Summer, Fall, and Spring responsibilities. This stipend recognizes the extended scope of the role beyond the regular school year and contractual day, including but not limited to: Evening and weekend athletic supervision CIF and league representation, including travel Coordination of athletic physicals, transportation, and officiating Pre-season and summer program planning Post-season banquets, awards coordination, and clearance oversight Management of athletic clearance and eligibility systems (e.g., Home Campus, CIF forms)
