JOB OVERVIEW The Del Mar Union School District (DMUSD) Board of Trustees is seeking a transformative leader to serve as its next Superintendent. Nestled on the north coast of San Diego County, the District’s nine award-winning schools serve 3,540 PreK-6 students in the communities of Del Mar, and portions of Carmel Valley and Pacific Highlands Ranch. The District has a storied history of offering cutting edge programs and premiere learning experiences that ignite genius and empower students to advance the world. LEADERSHIP PROFILE The Del Mar Union School District desires a Superintendent who: • Can lead the organization to the next level. • Actively contributes to the growth and success of students and staff. • Is inclusive, trustworthy, and reliable. • Remains open to feedback and multiple perspectives. • Engages with diverse learners, families and the broader community. • Recognizes trends before they become trends. • Demonstrates empathy and high EQ (emotional intelligence). • Participates as an active member of the governance team. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE • A forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of success in a TK-12 education setting • Cabinet level experience required • Site principal experience preferred • Superintendent experience preferred • Doctorate preferred • Working knowledge/familiarity with Community Funded (Basic Aide) districts
