2025/2026 Teacher, Music/ Marching Band Director Edison High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marching Band Director who is able to collaborate with a diverse population of parents and students. The Edison Golden Brigade has been an award winning and highly competitive marching band, and we are looking for an individual who can carry on the rich traditions of Edison High School. This position requires the ability to teach and coach music to a wide range of student skill sets, as well as the ability to organize and coordinate events and competitions with parents and students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Credential authorizing instruction of music at the elementary and/or secondary level Two years of instrumental music instruction at the appropriate level Must have English Learner Authorization and be NCLB compliant. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and ability to implement the subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts relative to the duties and responsibilities listed on this job description SECONDARY MUSIC TEACHER: In addition to the above, secondary music teachers will need to: * Understand and be able to develop all aspects of a successful program * Effectively fundraise, by following district and legal guidelines * Work with and support other groups and sports on campus * Be a team player, and participate in school activities with students in your program * Have a positive relationship with the music community * Be prepared to have ensembles perform at district and community events that occasionally occur on Saturdays and Sundays * Have high expectations for yourself and your students, and know how to reach them

AB 2345 commencing on July 1, 2025, requires that any person hired on a Short Term Staff Permit, Provisional Internship Permit, Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave, or a Preliminary or Clear Designated or Career Technical Education Credentials must have a certification in CPR that meets the standards established by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
