Job Summary

Job Overview: SOAR Academy is a student-centered alternative school of choice focused on supporting students with academic, social-emotional and behavioral challenges. We provide a structured, nurturing environment with small group instruction aimed at helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to equip students with the skills they need to become the best version of themselves and successfully reintegrate into a traditional school setting. We are seeking a compassionate, dynamic, and resilient special educator who thrives in a collaborative, trauma-informed setting. The ideal candidate is committed to equity, student empowerment, and the development of lifelong skills that foster resilience and personal growth. Key Responsibilities: • Provide targeted support for students exhibiting social-emotional and behavioral needs in a small-group setting. • Build trusting relationships with students through consistent, strengths-based practices. • Implement behavior intervention strategies, including restorative practices, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed approaches. • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to design and implement individualized support plans. • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions to support academic, behavioral, and emotional goals. • Serve as a mentor and advocate for students, promoting a positive and respectful school climate. • Prepare students for a successful transition back to a traditional school campus, including goal-setting, skill-building, and reintegration planning. • Maintain accurate documentation of student behavior, interventions, and progress. • Participate in professional development focused on social-emotional learning (SEL), behavioral support, and culturally responsive practices.
