LUCIA MAR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CERTIFICATED HUMAN RESOURCES JOB DESCRIPTION REVISED DATE: September 8, 2010 TITLE: Certificated Intervention Teacher, Grades K-6 SALARY RANGE: Placement on the District Certificated Salary Schedule is based upon years of full-time credentialed teaching experience and units of college coursework beyond a Bachelors Degree. SCHEDULE: Work 171 days for the 2010-2011 school year, 160 regular school days, 1 Saturday School Training Day, 5 Saturday School Days, and 5 Winter Break Days DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time teaching position to provide academic intervention and support in reading, writing, and math skills to students in accord with established District guidelines and State legal statutes. QUALIFICATIONS • Credential: Appropriate California Multiple-Subject teaching credential. CLAD/BCLAD/EL Authorization • Education: A Bachelors Degree, including all courses needed to meet credential and NCLB requirements, including passing a test if so specified by NCLB requirements. • Experience: As mandated by the state, and accepted by the school district. • Personal Qualities: Patience, helpfulness, diligence, persistence, and a willingness to work with students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. INSTRUCTIONAL 1. Provide students with supplemental instruction in reading, writing, math, and study skills based upon the identified needs and grade level of each student. Collaboration with the regular teacher will exist to support weekly instructional goals. 2. Instruct and assess students using State/District required teaching and assessment methodologies in identified subjects, which may include multiple assessments aligned to standards to evaluate pupils' academic learning. 3. Use a broad repertoire of teaching strategies to deliver the core reading, language arts, and mathematics programs, and in other subjects, including but not limited to the following: a. Teach skill development in pre-reading/phonics, reading comprehension, language (mechanics and expression), and mathematics (procedures and problem-solving). b. Give and use student feedback c. Incorporate reading strategies in all subject areas of instruction d. Use flexible grouping strategies to accommodate student needs. e. Manage and use State, District, and classroom data to monitor individual student learning and plan instruction accordingly. g. Adheres to District’s Course of Study for all students. h. Generates enthusiasm for learning. i. Achieves on-task student behavior. j. Moves students through curriculum based on mastery. k. Other duties as assigned. B. STUDENT MANAGEMENT 1. Evaluate pupil progress using District grading policy. 2. Create a classroom environment reflective of the curriculum and the various students individual needs. 3. Maintain appropriate records and prepare progress reports as required. 4. Establish and implement a classroom discipline policy to articulate and maintain standards of expected pupil behavior and achieve a functional learning environment in the classroom. 5. Meet deadlines. 6. Follow district promotion policy. 7. Maintain a classroom atmosphere conductive to learning. 8. Maintain clear lesson plans including homework assignments. 9. Provide students with additional instruction as required if they lag in academic skill development. C. PROFESSIONAL 1. Maintain positive staff relations. 2. Promote positive image of public education. 3. Follow District and Schools’ policies. 4. Work positively in conjunction with other support staff when working with students, particular when working with the students’ primary teachers. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: A. Hear and understand speech at normal levels. 4. Speak English so that others may understand at normal levels. 5. Interact daily in person with other members of the school staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes. 2. Because of the time urgent nature of duties and because work product of position is interdependent with that of other staff, consistent attendance is required. 3.
