This position is 0.2 FTE Temporary Contract for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is for 0.8 FTE (Prob) and 0.2 FTE (Temp) Saratoga High School is seeking a credentialed 1.0 FTE music teacher with a choral education emphasis. The Saratoga HS music department faculty work in a continuously collaborative team across all musical genres, while each has a point area of emphasis or focus that serves to guide the rest of the team. The position also includes teaching sections of orchestra classes, AP music theory, and marching band during the Fall semester, and a section of Jazz Band or Winter Ensemble during the Spring semester. Choral Emphasis The Choir program at SHS serves grades 9-12 and includes a diverse mix of students with varied musical backgrounds. Candidates should have a rich choral education background, anchored in choral pedagogy and choral health for secondary aged students. During the year, 4-5 official concert performances per academic year, in addition to the CMEA Bay Section Choral Festival as an annual benchmark is expected. Various community events and participation in local choral festivals are encouraged. Supported by the Saratoga Music Boosters, a daily choral accompanist is included for all class periods, performances, and events. As part of the collective SHS Music Department, the choral program will have an extensive event-driven travel experience, often international, every 3-5 years. Tentative Instrumental Music Component The string program at Saratoga HS in 2025-2026 will involve 170 students, divided into 5 string orchestra classes (and one Symphony Orchestra class semester II).
