La Cañada Unified School District is seeking to hire a part-time special education resource specialist (RSP) teacher. This position will work with students at La Cañada Elementary and Paradise Canyon Elementary Schools. A probationary contract will be offered, leading to tenure.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: 1. Credential: Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Mild/Moderate, with a certification to teach English Language Learner students. 2. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher. Master’s degree or higher degree is desirable. Work Year: This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE or 60%), mid-August through early June (10 months) with 191 contracted workdays.* A new teacher orientation day is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The first day of paid service is Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Students are on campus Thursday, August 14, 2025 through Thursday, June 4, 2026. The last day of the teacher work year is Friday, June 5, 2026. Elementary schools are in session 8:10 a.m. to 3 p.m. *Three of the contracted, paid workdays will be scheduled between August 1-11, 2025. Salary: Placement on the certificated salary schedule is dependent on education and years of employment in a public school district. No cap is placed on years for public school experience. The starting annual salary range for a fully credentialed teacher at 60% is $40,256 to $77,354, corresponding to $3,659.70 to $7,032.17 per month. Teachers are paid over 11 months on the last workday of the month, August through June. Benefits: An excellent benefits package is offered with the District contributing up to $19,990 per year per employee. The District’s contribution is pro-rated based on the employee’s full-time equivalent (FTE) percentage. This position has an FTE of 0.60 (60% of a full-time position), such that the employee would pay the full employee premium plus the remaining 40% of the employer premium. The benefits year runs October 1 to September 30. If not already a member, the new employee will be enrolled in the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
