LCAP SUPPLEMENTAL MATH SPECIALIST
THE POSITION
Under the guidance of Educational Support Services and the general supervision of an assigned Principal, the Supplemental Mathematics Specialist will provide strategic training and support to secondary mathematics teachers to ensure that struggling students are provided with supplemental instruction and appropriate and timely support. The Supplemental Math Specialist is responsible for implementing academic opportunities which promote high achievement for all students, including closing the achievement gap.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:
- Deliver strategic and targeted direct instruction to students.
- Deliver uniform staff development specific to at-risk students.
- Model effective instructional strategies for students and staff.
- Provide in classroom coaching, modeling/demonstrations, elbow coaching, consulting, observation/non-evaluative feedback and other assistance to site staff.
- Provide support for planning and collaboration.
- Provide supplemental intervention support.
- Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities.
- Help facilitate the engagement for all stakeholders in the pursuit of closing the achievement gap and ensuring academic equity.
- Help teachers implement a rigorous and demanding curriculum through facilitating discussions, coordinating professional development, and monitoring students’ progress during PLC.
- Assist with data analysis and the resulting instructional planning.
- Facilitate frequent progress monitoring of students.
- Provide support and training in creation, administration, scoring and on-line reporting of assessments.
- Interpret disaggregated data for school community, student, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Attends district & site professional development and trainings.
- With site administration and supplemental coordination, plan and hold parent workshops.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
- Valid California Teaching Math Credential/Authorization.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Three or more years of teaching.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of ECI and district focused components in lessons.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Common Core Standards and instructional shifts of instruction.
- Experience in creating course specific lessons.
- Experience in delivering strategic and targeted direct instruction to students.
- Education and experience in the instruction of mathematics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current research in effective mathematics practices.
WORK YEAR: 185 Days
SALARY: Certificated Salary Schedule “A”
