Job Summary & Essential Functions: Bishop Alemany High School, located in the San Fernando Valley in Mission Hills, CA is seeking a full-time Dean of Students. As a Catholic High School owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Bishop Alemany is a community enriched by faith that develops intellectually prepared men and women who are committed to promoting a just and peaceful world as conscientious and morally courageous leaders in service to others. The Alemany Dean of Students plays an important role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment in collaboration with school staff, students, and families to promote positive behavioral outcomes and ensure consistent implementation of school discipline policies. Primary Responsibilities: • Behavioral Intervention and Support: o Provide direct, individualized behavioral support to students, including assessment of needs, development of behavior intervention plans, and implementation of strategies to improve student behavior. o Work proactively with students to address behavioral challenges, promoting self-regulation, conflict resolution, and positive social skills. • Collaboration and Consultation: o Facilitate communication and collaboration between school, students, and parents/guardians to address behavioral concerns and promote student success. • Discipline and Policy Implementation: o Assist the school administrative team in the implementation of discipline procedures, ensuring fairness, consistency, and adherence to school and Archdiocesan policies. o Work to reduce serious or persistent school or classroom problems, including tardiness and truancy, through proactive intervention and support. • Program Support and Data Management: o Support and contribute to school-based intervention programs, ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with student needs while tracking discipline data, trends, and informing intervention strategies.
Requirements / Qualifications
Desirable Experience/Qualifications: • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to implement positive behavior support strategies and intervention techniques. • Experience in conducting peer coaching or mentoring for instructional staff related to behavioral management. • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform behavioral decision-making and intervention planning. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators. • Cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic backgrounds. • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the holistic development and education of all students. Requirements: • 3 or more years of full-time teaching experience at a high school • Masters degree and/or CA teaching credential preferred
