Job Summary
The specific course(s) to be taught will be determined by the Department Chair based on departmental needs. A candidate must be able to teach multiple levels of Bilingual and Non-Bilingual Spanish. Primary duties: A Spanish teacher teaches five periods at a college-prep level. The teacher is responsible for lesson planning, lesson presentation, student assessment, and individualized student support as needed. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a functional, educational environment where students can learn and grow in the subject and their faith while being part of the greater school community. There is an expectation of the teacher being available to tutor students at least twice a week. In addition to the academic duties, there is responsibility for student behavior and establishing and maintaining school standards and codes of conduct. Communication with parents is key and should also be considered part of the duties that come with the position. Description of position: Spanish teachers are part of the World Languages Department that reports to the World Languages Department Chair, and the school’s administrative team (President, Principal and Vice Principals). Essential Job Functions: • Teaching Spanish Levels 1 and 2 (bilingual and non-bilingual) • Create an environment in the classroom and in all areas of co-curricular responsibility that nurtures the development of faith, integrity and truth. • Design and implement regular formative and summative assessments to measure student learning. • Proficiency in curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment. • Be able to use technology in the classroom or be willing to learn how to incorporate technology as a teaching tool. • Be an active member of our Catholic school community by participating in religious events (Masses, retreats, days of recollection, penance services, etc.) and non-religious events like athletics, performances, rallies, etc.

Requirements / Education and Qualifications: • A degree in Spanish or a related field, Bachelor minimum, Masters preferred. • Teaching Credential preferred • Experience teaching at a Catholic high school is preferred. • Build positive relationships with parents, students and colleagues while maintaining healthy boundaries. • Collaborate and solve problems with colleagues and school administration. • Sensitivity and understanding of a multi-ethnic and faith campus. • Be able to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum. • Possess excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.
