Job Summary
The Assistant Principal reports directly to the Principal. This position plays a vital leadership role in a fully remote independent study charter school, working collaboratively with school leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure academic excellence, student success, and operational effectiveness in a virtual learning environment. The Assistant Principal supports curriculum oversight, instructional quality, compliance, student engagement, and school culture.
Requirements / Qualifications
Responsibilities: • Support the Principal in the implementation and oversight of school-wide instructional programs, policies, and goals in alignment with the school’s mission. • Provide coaching and evaluation for instructional staff through virtual observations, feedback, and ongoing professional development. • Assist with data-driven decision-making related to academic performance, student engagement, and intervention needs. • Ensure compliance with state education codes, charter requirements, and remote learning regulations. • Manage and resolve student discipline issues in accordance with school policies. • Collaborate with the leadership team to foster a positive school culture that supports student achievement and well-being. • Monitor attendance and academic progress, working with staff and families to address concerns proactively. • Coordinate and support virtual events, such as parent meetings, staff training, and community engagement activities. • Serve as a liaison between community partners including students, families, faculty, and external agencies. • Lead special projects or programs as assigned by the Principal. • Perform additional administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:
• California residency required
• Current California Credentialing in appropriate content area
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
• Preferred at least two years’ administrative experience
• High quality written and verbal communication skills
• High digital proficiency in Microsoft applications, Google Workspace, and Work OS platforms
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
• Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred
• Ability to work with a diverse and distributed student body and peer group
• Experience in coaching teachers to improve their instructional planning, instructional practice, and classroom culture
• A passion for education and genuine care for children
• High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
