
Program Specialist – Multilingual Education at Kern County Superintendent of Schools

Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned Director in the Instructional Support division, provides support in all areas of integrated and designated language programs. Provides training to school districts and the county office emphasizing how to support Multilingual Learners and students with special needs. Plans and delivers professional development meetings and develops resources to facilitate professional growth. This position is located at the City Centre Building in Bakersfield, CA.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. • Must hold appropriate California Teaching Credential(s) including CLAD certification. • Master’s degree preferred. Experience: • Successful experience in a classroom teaching, preferably in a bilingual or English immersion classroom. • In-depth experience and knowledge in developing and conducting professional development activities for adults. • Successful experience in curriculum development and implementation of reform documents, standards, frameworks, and student assessment. • Successful experience in the use of data to guide decision making and instruction. • Experience mentoring teachers preferred. Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
