General Responsibilities

Skamania School District is recruiting for a Middle School Classroom & Resource Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This position entails two primary roles within the Skamania School District. Firstly, as the half-time Resource teacher, responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) program for K-8 students, facilitating instruction for highly capable students, and working with targeted intervention groups. Secondly, as the half-time Physical Education Teacher, the responsibilitiesinclude planning and delivering a comprehensive physical education curriculum to students in grades TK-8. The PE teacher will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical ?tness, motor skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They will assess student progress, provide feedback, and collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education into the overall school curriculum.


Salary: 
The full salary range is $52,251 - $98,484. 

Assignment: 
This is a 1.0 FTE.

 

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
Resource Teacher Duties

  1. Delivering high quality instruction through project-based learning methods.
  2. Attending professional development and training related to STEAM, highly capable, and intervention programs and methodologies to stay abreast of current research.
  3. Employing a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
  4. Using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  5. Working directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives and curriculum.
  6. Organizing, developing, and coordinating special STEAM events/activities.
  7. Coaching teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.
  8. Designing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that are differentiated to support the advanced learning needs of gifted students.
  9. Providing intervention and support for students who require additional academic assistance, including targeted instruction and remediation.
PE Teacher Duties
  1. Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate physical education lessons and activities that align with state standards and promote healthy lifestyle habits.
  2. Teaching fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, cathcing, and kicking, using a variety of instructional methods and equipment. 
  3. Introducing students to a range of individual and team sports, games, and recreational activities, adapting instruction to accommodate diverse skill levels and abilities. 
  4. Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and enjoyment of physical activity.
  5. Incorporating principles of ?tness, nutrition, and wellness education into physical education lessons to promote overall health and well-being.
  6. Assessing student progress through observation, skill demonstrations, and formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  7. Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement in physical education activities.
  8. Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, participation, and achievement in physical education classes.
  9. Ensuring the safety and supervision of students during physical education activities, adhering to established school and district policies and procedures.

Other Functions:
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS or higher degree with a major in one of the following areas: Elementary Education, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Curriculum, or a STEAM-related field. 
  2. Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington State Teaching License, Emergency Substitute or Conditional Teaching license.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Hold and maintain an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Washington.
  2. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and State Instructional Standards.
