QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE • High School Diploma or equivalent; • Three years of experience as a Journey-level Mechanic, including two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy gasoline, diesel-powered equipment, and CNG school buses; • Have and maintain a valid California Class B Commercial Driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements and a driving record that allows insurability through the District's carrier. OVERVIEW: Under general supervision, head a team of Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), diesel, and gasoline school buses and district vehicular equipment; oversee shop; perform Journey-level Mechanic duties and maintain accurate and correct records of all vehicular maintenance performed; related work as required. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform required journey-level maintenance and repair of school buses, automobiles, light trucks, and heavy trucks; • Assign work based on priorities; • Train new mechanics; • Inspect, diagnose, and make emergency repairs to district vehicles and equipment; • Service vehicles by lubricating and servicing transmissions, CNG, diesel and gasoline engines, automatic and standard transmissions, differentials, clutches, carburetors, and starters; • Install special equipment, test equipment, and other specialized tools and equipment; • May do acetylene and electric welding; • Recommend work requiring the replacement of major parts to superiors; • Operate school buses as required; • Maintain required records; • Ensure all school buses pass California Highway Patrol (CHP) inspections, and ensure records are current for Annual Terminal inspection; • Facilitate organization and cleanliness of the district corporation yard; • Ensure that the garage area, equipment, and materials are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner; • Perform hazardous materials inspections as required; • Ensure disposal of hazardous materials meets establi
