Requirements / Qualifications

The candidate must possess a valid California Administrative Credential consistent with Education Code section 1208, and be experienced in all areas of district and school administration, including instruction, finance, budget, and personnel administration. It is desirable for the candidate to have a master’s degree in Education Administration and/or related fields as a minimum requirement. The candidate must be a resident of and registered to vote in Solano County by September 2, 2025. Must attach: •Letter of interest •Resume including references distinct from letters of recommendation •Three Letters of Recommendation. Letters of recommendation must be within the past three years.

Preferred Professional Skills and Abilities: •Recent experience as a Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent or similar educational leadership positions •Experience with county offices of education and regional service providers •Experience and knowledge of the community of Solano County •Experience with county level interagency collaboration •Experience in a public setting representing and communicating on behalf of an agency •Experience in areas of curriculum, instruction, and school improvement including compliance with California education standards •Demonstrated knowledge of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and experience managing large budgets and grants and fiscal oversight responsibilities •Experience with special education and alternative education programs, including Juvenile Detention Facility, access to behavioral health services and charter schools •Experience with foster youth, homeless youth, English language learners and socio-economically disadvantaged youth

Selection Procedure: Applications will be evaluated by an ad hoc committee of the Board who will review the qualifications of each applicant. The ad hoc committee will use the aforementioned criteria during screening, interviewing and final selection. The committee will select and invite the top candidates for an interview at a County Board of Education public meeting.Any applicant who contacts a Board member after 5/30/25 with the intent of influencing the Board’s decision will be disqualified. It is the candidate’s responsibility to provide the Board with verification of employment eligibility and verification of citizenship in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act. The finalist will also be required to provide the Board with proof of residency, official transcripts and verify attainment of academic degrees and proof of appropriate credentials. The appointed individual will serve as County Superintendent effective upon taking the Oath of Office in September of 2025 through December 2026. The appointee shall hold office until the office is filled by election at the next gubernatorial election.
