The Wasco Union Elementary School District serves over 3,650 students in grade levels pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Founded in 1940, the district is comprised of four elementary schools and two middle schools. Required Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Pupil Personnel Services School Psychology Credential Masters of Arts in Psychology or related field Possess knowledge and effectively implement Special Education legal policies and procedures Communicates effectively both orally and written Desirable Qualifications: One year experience performing professional psychology duties in school environment including work with children and special education programs and services. Bilingual preferred. AAbility to possess a COBIS certification

Essential Functions: Conduct articulation meetings between school districts. Interprets the district’s Special Education program and psychological services to teachers and parents. Assists with district in-service training programs. Cooperates with local, county, and state agencies in regard to exceptional children and Special Education. Serves as a consultant of Special Education to staff and members of the community. Helps to identify all types of exceptional students. Assess problems of exceptional children through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices. Administers tests and recommends placement of all exceptional students. Maintains records on all referred exceptional students. Attends staff meetings. Conducts crisis counseling sessions for all students as needed. Confers with teachers and parents as needed. Coordinates case conferences on placement of individual students. Maintains required records and conducts appropriate research. Prepares and submits required reports on exceptional students and Special Education Programs. Prepares an annual written report to the Superintendent at the close of each year. Performs other related duties as assigned.
