Position Description

Chaffey College is seeking applicants for the adjunct faculty pool in the Counseling Department. This position is for adjunct counselors interested in supporting current high school students seeking to take college courses through the High School Partnerships Dual Enrollment Program. All applicants are expected to meet the California State Community College Minimum Qualifications for Counselors (below). Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee employment or an interview.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR
• The equivalent; AND
• Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.

MEETING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DOES NOT ASSURE THE CANDIDATE OF AN INTERVIEW. Applications will be evaluated taking into account the breadth and depth of relevant education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1) year of full-time or two (2) years of part-time successful community college counseling or related experience;
• Experience working with high school and/or non-traditional college students;
• Bilingual;
• Experience in developing or assisting in the development of comprehensive and/or abbreviated educational plans for student success;
• Knowledge of California Community Colleges matriculation processes;
• Knowledge of and ability to connect students with on/off campus resources to assist them in their college life management;
• Experience using computerized counseling databases, student education plans, student information systems and internet for academic and career planning.
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of Educational Code as it pertains to dual enrollment;
• Skill in sensitive, respectful, and effective communication with people of diverse cultures, language groups and abilities;
• Skill in building and maintaining collaborative individual and team relationships;
• Skill in written and oral communication, including public speaking;
• Skill in short- and long-range program and event planning, and program and event facilitation.
