Job Summary

The job of Administrative Assistant is for the purpose of providing complex and confidential secretarial and administrative support to assigned administrator; planning, organizing, and coordinating assigned administrator activities; conveying information regarding District functions and procedures; ensuring efficient operation of support functions; and coordinating assigned projects and site activities. This job reports to the Assistant Superintendent (as assigned) or designee.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to: • Graduation from high school or equivalency and one year (24 semester or 36 quarter units) of college-level coursework in secretarial science, office management, business administration, public administration, communication, or a closely related field. • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative secretarial assignments. • Experience in the field of education is highly desirable. One or more years of school district or public agency based clerical experience including a high level of public contact may be substituted for the required college coursework. (Please review the job description for more information) EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each section of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future permanent and substitute vacancies. Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at (562) 690-2321, three business days prior to the testing date. Date of Examination Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email or telephone of the time, date, and place of the examination(s).
