Math & Physics Teacher - High school for students with mild/moderate learning differences Do you have a passion for creating highly engaging lessons that make content accessible to many types of learners? Do you enjoy creating those “aha” moments in your students? Bayhill is a small school in Berkeley, CA, for students who have struggled to learn in large traditional schools. Our bright, motivated students have learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, and executive functioning challenges. They thrive in small, supportive environments where teachers create innovative and engaging lessons. , capitalizing on students’ natural curiosity and desire to learn. Many of our students graduate to attend 4-year universities, art and design schools, trade programs, and more. We are looking for a teacher to teach Algebra 1, Geometry, and Physics to classes of 8-10 students. You will teach the standard curriculum that fulfills the California graduation requirements and the UC system requirements for entrance into a 4-year university, yet adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of your students. Employee Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students can fulfill their potential for academic achievement. Creates and implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs Demonstrates an understanding and openness to applying effective instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals regularly. Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents
