Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Graduate from high school or equivalent and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy. 2. Valid CA license to practice Occupational Therapy and a certificate of proficiency in Occupational Therapy issued by the American Occupation Therapist Association and/or a current and valid certificate of registration in occupational therapy issued by the National board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. 3. California Driver’s License required by the first day of service. 4. First Aid / CPR Certificate preferred. Ability to be First Aid/CPR certified. 5. Ability to read, write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the assigned duties. 6. Ability to communicate with and effectively supervise students. 7. Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions. 8. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others. 9. Ability to travel to different locations and school sites. Brief Description of Position: • Provides occupational therapy services to students in Special Education enabling them to access academic programs in the educational setting. • Supports identified students in improving their ability to perform educational tasks including assessment and consultation to school personnel and families to ensure student access to high quality learning options. • Develops educationally relevant goals and objectives that are part of the student’s Individual Educational Program (IEP). • Collaborates and serves as liaison for students with staff, medical personnel and families to identify strategies, methods and patterns of instructional support. • Maintains documentation as required to ensure compliance with policies and state and federal laws and regulations. • Communicates and establishes collaborative relationships with families regarding occupational therapy services. • Completes other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
