Job Summary
Job Summary
This position requires subject matter expertise in hearing and communication disabilities and the ability to communicate through oral, written and signed language (ASL). In addition, the position must be able to implement techniques and strategies for deaf and hard of hearing service programs for students age 0 to 5 years and students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. The Special Education Teacher-Deaf and Hearing Impaired is required to conduct screenings, present data and information at IEP meetings and work collaboratively with parents and staff members. The Special Education Teacher-Deaf and Hearing Impaired provides specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments (deaf and hard of hearing) involving diagnosis, direct therapy, and consultation. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Special Education Teacher-Deaf and Hearing Impaired works collaboratively to determine eligibility for special education and mode and intensity of services. This is an itinerant position serving students in districts throughout the SELPA. Placement on the SBCOE Professional Services Certificated Salary Schedule determined by experience and units.
