Job Summary

Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for an Executive Director, Charter Schools for the Charter School Services department of the Business Services division. The job of Executive Director, Charter Schools is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and directing the charter school oversight activities and operations for the San Diego County Office of Education; directing the charter school authorization process; researching and tracking data and legislation pertaining to Charter Schools; functioning as the liaison to the County Office for school and community charter school petitioners; and serving as a primary resource for charter school issues across San Diego County. ABOUT CHARTER SCHOOL SERVICES The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) ensures organizational efficiency by developing and administering oversight for the 11 SDCOE-authorized charter schools. The County Office also provides technical assistance and training to San Diego County charter schools and school districts related to charter school oversight, operations, and legal requirements. PLEASE NOTE: This is a PROMOTIONAL opportunity. Consideration will be given to PERMANENT SDCOE EMPLOYEES only.

Requirements / Qualifications

This position requires the following Education and Experience: Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, administration studies, or a related field; and, Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of school budgets and curriculum; and program development and implementation in public or government entities, including two years of experience supervising and evaluating staff. - OR - Equivalency: A combination of experience and education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in education, administration studies, or a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of school budgets and curriculum, program development and implementation in public or government entities, including two years of experience supervising and evaluating staff.
