Special Education (Mod/Severe - Elementary) - 2025-2026 at Burbank Unified
Requirements / Qualifications
MUST have Extensive Support Needs Education Specialist or Moderate/Severe credential, either Clear or Preliminary, or qualify for an intern credential in the credential. If you are intern eligible, you MUST submit, along with your EDJOIN application, a letter with from your university (on letterhead), stating that you are intern eligible. If you will be obtaining your credential upon graduation or completion of your credentialing program during the months of late May, June/July, you MUST submit a letter from your university (on letterhead), stating that you are indeed on track to obtain your credential. Must have English Language Learner Authorization
Along with you application you must submit the following: Cover letter Resume Three recent letters of recommendation Copies of any credentials Copy of CSET tests (if applicable) Proof/Copy of EL Authorization Copies of transcripts If you are missing these documents, you will not be screened in.

All SDC teachers shall be provided planning time equivalent to the amount of planning time that grade level general education teachers have for the purpose of academic planning and shall choose up to seven full day substitutes per year in order to test, meet with parents write and revise IEP plans, observe students in general education classes, give progress reports, communicate with parents, collect data from teachers regarding each student on caseload, and articulate their programs with general education teachers and related service providers. This is only a partial list of the tasks and duties related to their job that SDC teachers may have to complete during their release day.
