Job Summary

Provide quality Special Education services to Special Education students, through a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and collaboration with general education staff. Birmingham is committed to providing inclusive opportunities for all students with disabilities. An Education Specialist must be able to engage in a co-teaching relationship with a General Education teacher to provide inclusive educational opportunities for students with disabilities.

This position requires a Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Mild/Moderate disabilities along with an Autism Authorization issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Birmingham Community Charter High School is dedicated to fostering an inclusive educational environment that embraces co-teaching as a key strategy for enhancing learning experiences for all students. We accept out of state applicants looking to relocate to the San Fernando Valley if applicants have started the research and compilation of required documents for the process of converting their professional-level credential from another state. Applications from Intern Eligible applicants are accepted but must be accompanied by a letter from the applicant's university on official letterhead indicating that the candidate is in fact intern eligible, with an anticipated effective date for when the applicant will be recommended to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing by the university for the Single Subject Intern Credential. Applications from applicants who are currently in a credentialing program and are intended to graduate and receive their teaching credential upon graduation in the months of May, June or July are accepted but must be accompanied by a letter from the applicant's university on official letterhead indicating that the candidate is in fact on board to graduate from the credentialing program, with an anticipated effective date for when the applicant will be recommended to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing by the university for the Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Mild/Moderate.
