Job Summary
The Golden Charter Academy is an innovative start-up charter school that opened in Fresno, CA in August 2021. It is a place-based, science-oriented school that emphasizes environmental stewardship, social justice, and equity. The instructional approach employs Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a strategy to provide successful pathways for student success in all learners. GCA has a formal partnership with the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, where students utilize the zoo as a living, educational laboratory. The Golden Charter Academy is open for grades TK – 6th. GCA will be growing to include 7th grade in the 2025-26 school year, and 8th grade for the 2026-27 school year. On February 24, 2025 GCA broke ground on it's new sustainable, green facility across the street from the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. The Administrative Assistant will support the Executive Assistant and assist the school and business’s administrative team with a variety of clerical and organizational tasks as needed. Duties include preparing documents, maintaining records, coordinating communications, and helping ensure efficient school and business operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic school setting. Requirements / Qualifications
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs a variety of general clerical work including word-processing, filing, checking, and recording information on records • Perform reception-like duties such as but not limited to answering phones, receives visitors, provides routine information or refers caller to the appropriate source, receives packages • Operates office equipment such as personal and networked computers and printers, typewriters, facsimile machines, copy equipment, voice messaging and electronic mail systems, and telephone equipment • Maintain and organize digital and physical filing systems • Prepare, proofread, and distribute correspondence, memos, and reports • Assist other office members in providing administrative secretarial and clerical support • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the office space • Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion • Collaborate with other departments as needed to support school and business operations • Assist with events and company gatherings • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor and CEO • Other duties as assigned by the school and business administration
REQUIRED SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES • In-depth knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, and letter and report writing • Working knowledge of GCA operations, policies, procedures, and calendars • Working knowledge of, and skill at using personal computer-based software programs that support this level of work, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation graphics, special applications used by the organization unit, and data entry onto custom databases • Skill at facilitating problem-solving processes • Sufficient math skills to perform financial and statistical record-keeping • Sufficient knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence • Sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with diverse teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers, and convey technical concepts

• High-school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by college-level business coursework and two (2) years of progressive secretarial experience. Additional education may substitute for some experience
• At least one year of clerical work experience OR at least two years of work experience in a field related to the company preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
• Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, school site) for sustained periods of time
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 15 pounds of materials or supplies
