Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education, plans and provides behavior analysis and behavior management plans for special education students enrolled in educational programs. Provides support and training to school site staff, instructional aides/assistants, paraprofessionals, and parents/guardians in appropriate behavior intervention techniques. Support students through transition into new education placements. Maintain appropriate documentation, records and reports; trains, directs, may provide input for evaluations of those instructional aides/assistants who deal with students with behavior plans on his/her caseload; and performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and either a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or possession of a PPS credential; a minimum of one year of experience working with students with challenging behaviors (students with autism, emotional disturbance, etc.) in school settings, preferable with cross-age groups; experience in interpreting, designing, and developing specific educationally necessary student program plans; experience working as a behavior specialist or school psychologist in public education; experience supervising and managing instructional aides; experience in performance of functional behavior assessments, functional analysis assessments, development of behavioral plans and training, and use of emergency behavioral interventions; experience and training in a variety of appropriate curriculum, instruction, classroom management, and intervention techniques; or such alternatives that the Personnel Commission may find desirable. An automobile to be used in the course of work that meets the current legal requirements for vehicle operation in the State of California. Must maintain insurance coverage for vehicle and provide proof of coverage to the District.

Applications will be screened for completeness, relevant training and/or experience. For those applicants participating in both supplemental application and oral interview, supplemental application will be weighted as qualifying and Oral Appraisal Interview will be weighted at 100% and placed on a 6 – month eligibility list.
