***This job opening is located in a locked juvenile detention facility*** The Blue Ridge Court School program (located inside the Juvenile Treatment Center in South Lake Tahoe) offers services to youth grades 6 to 12 and consists of court-incarcerated youth that serve students from El Dorado and several surrounding counties. The Court School Program staff, in partnership with the Probation Department, are dedicated to creating a safe and productive learning environment where positive educational experiences impact student choices. Purpose Statement: Serving students detained in the Juvenile Treatment Center in South Lake Tahoe, under the direction of the classroom teacher, assisting in supervising classroom and community activities of incarcerated students, and students with disabilities; presenting instructional material under the teacher’s direction to individual students or small groups; relieve the teacher of routine clerical duties.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience: Successful interaction with children in a classroom or other structured setting, preferably within a juvenile detention environment. Education: High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college (48 units), or A.A. degree (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
