Under general supervision, to assist teachers in supervising the classroom and playground activities of children to relieve teachers of routine clerical and authorized instructional duties and do related work as required and assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • Education equivalent to completion of 12th grade and successful passage of the Instructional Aide test or meet the NCLB (No Child Left Behind Act) requirements for paraprofessionals (see below) • Valid current California Driver’s license. • Some positions within the classification may require other specific experience to assist in knowledge and/or skill acquisition. Desirable: • Previous experience in the public school setting. • Valid first aid care or certificate. • Recent successful experience interacting with youth. This position is part of the Classified Employee Unit at MCUSD/MCOE and will be placed depending on experience on the Classified Employee Salary schedule on Range 14. A full job description is attached. <NCLB (No Child Left Behind Compliant.)-would either need to have an AA degree or higher or 48 or more college units (towards a BA) (must provide unofficial transcripts attached to the application) and/or the passing of our district's Instructional Aide Eligibility Test. This position is to serve at El Portal Elementary School.
El Portal is a small town in the Merced River Canyon fifteen miles west of Yosemite Valley and thirty miles east of Mariposa. This location provides amazing outdoor learning opportunities for the students of our Necessary Small School. Curriculum and instruction are driven by district-adopted academic standards. Instruction is often theme-based, with strong science, visual, and performing arts components. Physical education includes learning to swim, ski, hike in the mountains and play tennis. Parents and our Yosemite National Park partners contribute to the rich learning environment.
