Start date on or about July 1, 2025 Lone Pine is a small rural community located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains at the base of Mt. Whitney, approximately 200 miles northeast of Los Angeles on Hwy 395. A wide variety of recreational activities include skiing (Mammoth Lakes is 100 miles north) hiking, mountain climbing, golf, tennis, boating and fishing. The District is a K-12 school district of approximately 289 students consisting of two schools: Lo-Inyo School, a K-8 school with enrollment of 201 students and Lone Pine High School, a necessary small high school with 88 students.
