Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the site administrator and direction of the Director of Special Services, the Behavior Specialist provides support, training, consultation, and assessment to site administrators and staff in support of general and special education students with behavioral challenges. In the course of his/her duties, the Behavior Specialist will work collaboratively with other service providers, write reports, assist in the training of teachers and teaching assistants, attend IEP meetings as needed and do other related work as required. Additional other duties as assigned related to emergency, crisis and/or pandemic.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: - A Bachelor of Arts or Science in applied behavioral sciences, psychology, social work, sociology, education, or mental health related field - Three (3) years of experience pertaining to duties listed, including experience in staff development and in-service training. - Five (5) years of experience in school settings. License/Certifications: (Must have one of the following) - A valid California Teaching Credential (Special Education desirable) - A Credential in Pupil Personnel, School Counseling or School Psychologist - License as a Clinical Social Worker; or Marriage, Family & Child Counselor - Board Certified Behavior Analyst Desirable qualifications: - Experience conducting functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and drafting behavior intervention plans (BIPs); - Experience providing training and supervision of student behavioral programming to pertinent stakeholders (e.g. teachers, support staff); - Experience implementing and monitoring data to assess behavioral program effectiveness.
