CLASS TITLE: TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR/TRAINER BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Operations, Purchasing and Transportation, organize, coordinate, prepare and assign school bus routes and schedules to assure that students are transported to and from school in a safe and timely manner; train other bus drivers as needed. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Plan, organize and participate in a variety of activities related to providing transportation to District students safely and efficiently. E Train bus driver applicants in accordance with State standards, time lines and regulations; provide training on written laws, first aid procedures and actual behind the wheel training. E Coordinate, prepare and assign bus routes and schedules for providing transportation to and from school, field trips and special events. E Maintain records and monitor expiration dates of bus drivers’ licenses, physical examinations, training requirements and first aid certificates to assure that drivers meet District and state requirements. E Operate a two-way radio and communicate with bus drivers, law enforcement agencies and others regarding bus schedules, stops, traffic hazards, accidents and road conditions. E Assign drivers to school buses and other passenger vehicles; monitor driver performance and assure that schedules are met and buses are properly maintained and operated. E Schedule, conduct or participate in bus driver safety meeting, periodic drills and bus evacuations. E
