Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the High School Principal or Designee, the High School Counselor provides counseling and guidance services to students and their parents. He/she identifies and counsels students with academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and attendance issues. The high school counselor assists students in developing a personal learning plan that will guide students to high school graduation, college entrance and/or career readiness. The high school counselor serves as a liaison between teacher, parents, and students and assists in the establishment and maintenance of good community, school and public relations. This position requires expertise in high school educational programs, graduation requirements, UC/CSU “a-g” entrance requirements, and career readiness requirements. The high school counselor provides a comprehensive counseling program for students and provides services to meet their needs.
