Welcome to the Santa Maria-Bonita School District website. We are the largest school district in Santa Barbara County with about 17,500 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. Santa Maria-Bonita School District CAFETERIA MANAGER I BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, plan, organize, coordinate, lead and serve in the operation of a school food service, catering and banquet operation; perform skilled functions in the preparation and serving, cooking and baking of a variety of soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and baked goods; requisition, receive, serve, and store foodstuffs and supplies; maintain a variety of records and prepare reports. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Provide work direction, lead and participate in the serving and preparation, cooking and baking of a variety of meat and vegetable dishes and baked goods utilizing prepared Type A menus and recipesE; monitor and participate in the serving of foodsE; requisition foodstuffs and suppliesE; receive, inspect and confirm the quantity and quality of items deliveredE; maintain routine inventory and storeroom recordsE; review quality and portion control and the wrapping, arranging and storage of food to ensure the efficient use of foodstuffs and suppliesE; assist in the orientation and inservice training of cafeteria personnelE; plan and prepare employee work schedules as assignedE; provide technical input into the performance appraisal of cafeteria personnelE; maintain the food service facility and equipment in a clean, safe and sanitary condition; perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: Methods, procedures, and techniques for preparing, cooking, baking, and serving foods in large quantities; Sanitation and safety practices and procedures; Standard cafeteria appliances and equipment; Menu planning, nutrition, and Type A lunch program requirements; Basic arithmetic, recordkeeping, and money handling procedures; Methods and procedures for requisitioning, receiving, and storing of foodstuffs and supplies; Personnel training, motivation, and organizational techniques.
