Job Summary
Under direction of the Executive Director of the Charter Alternative Programs, ensures the educational success of students by providing educational and administrative leadership for the educational staff, students, and parents. Provides the leadership for the success of assigned educational programs, including building and maintaining an effective instructional program while maintaining a safe, positive school culture; supervises and evaluates instructional staff; oversees student discipline, scheduling, and attendance; coordinates school activities; communicates with students, parents, staff, administration, and the public; develops and administers program budgets; and performs related duties as assigned. The Level II Principals will provide oversight and supervision for either the Charter Community School program or two or more of the Home Study Academy programs. At Mountainside Success Academy, we prioritize personalized support for every student. Each student participates in a one-on-one enrollment meeting with the principal or assistant principal, along with their parent or guardian. Each student at MSA is assigned Success Coordinator and an individualized learning plan tailored to their goals; this could include academic counseling, credit recovery, credit acceleration, and post-secondary planning. With a focus on clear and collaborative communication, the principal works closely with staff, students, parents, and the broader community to foster a supportive and inclusive environment. Responsibilities include state testing, staffing, master scheduling, student discipline, and school activities while ensuring that all instructional and classified staff receive meaningful supervision and evaluation. Additionally, the Principal contributes to the development of key State plans and reports related to LCAP, Wellness, School Advisory Council, and School Safety Plan.

The El Dorado County Office of Education Charter Alternative Programs is looking for a talented individual to join our Charter Administration team as a principal to provide oversight and support of Mountainside Success Academy (MSA). MSA has a learning model that provides high-quality alternative education options to create an enriching educational experience for students in grades 9 -12, with an emphasis on a positive school climate and relationship building. Mountainside Success Academy (MSA) is a charter and alternative high school that also serves as the community school for El Dorado County schools. Authorized and supported by EDCOE, MSA is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. MSA provides a supportive, flexible learning environment for students who may benefit from an alternative setting. This includes students who face challenges with social emotional, academic, behavioral, or attendance expectations, as well as those who need guidance in goal setting or personalized support to meet their learning needs. Each student at MSA receives an individualized learning plan tailored to their goals, incorporating academic counseling, credit recovery, acceleration opportunities, and post-secondary planning. As an independent study program with required seat time, MSA offers the flexibility to create customized schedules based on student progress and achievement. Experience: Five (5) or more years comprehensive and directly related, progressive experience beyond experience required to obtain an appropriate CA Teaching Credential and Administrative Services Credential. Supervisory responsibility is required. Education: Credential in School Administration; Master’s Degree preferred. Valid California Administrative Credential. Prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in school settings.
