Job Summary

Job Summary

The mission of Career and Adult Learning Services is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire academic, career, and technical skills and to prepare for life-long learning and success in the changing workplace. As part of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education with it's partners, CALS is able to provide a Pre-Apprenticeship program, utilizing the Building Trades Multi-Core Craft Curriculum (MC3). As an advanced vocational and technical education program, this course includes occupational and basic technical information as well as laboratory experience directly related to current practices in the construction industry. CALS is dedicated to providing high-quality career and technical education for Santa Cruz County.

Requirements / Qualifications

Applicant must hold or be eligible for Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential in the area of Building and Construction Trades. Location: 399 Encinal and Sequoia Schools. May require travel to more than one location on the same day. School Year: 182 days per year to start August 2025 Hours: May be required to work afternoon and evenings based on student need. Please submit a cover letter, resume and three current letters of recommendation to be considered for this position along with your Edjoin Application.

This position will be assigned to the adult Building Trades Pre-Apprentice Program (BTPA) and 2 high school sections at Sequoia Schools, Alternative Education. The BTPA program prepares participants to apply for, enter, and successfully complete a Building Trades Union Apprenticeship program, as well as opportunities for continued education with Cabrillo Colleges Construction and Energy Management program, or direct entry into the workforce with local non-union contractors. The Sequoia program prepares students to learn that basics of construction and offers hands on experience within a classroom setting.
